The Stories belong to a larger cycle of short stories, while maintaining their own new, primary unity. These "chronicles" in prose and verse are "recipes" and teachings of a poet who does not write for himself but mainly for others, using the dialectical method. Almost all the characters who parade through the STORIES are asocial; they make their revolution consciously or unconsciously, trying to make their way. Brecht, once again, mainly using the narrative form, conveys his moral and political worldview, the one that prompted him to "set up his home" in East Germany. Nevertheless, the work of a true writer transcends his commitment to a specific political direction that can lead to the trap of conformism and the caste of the "few." His Stories, it is clear, belong mainly to the people.   [Excerpt from the text on the back cover of the edition]
